Alicia’s House of Paws are looking for people who love animals, including but not limited to dogs. 

(Although dogs are our main focus in 2022, Alicia’s House of Paws started out as a pet sitting service for all animals, dogs, cats, guinea pigs and even a turtle or two!)

 

Dog walking and training is a very rewarding occupation for those that love animals and really enjoy seeing them living their best life!

 

I (Alicia) genuinely tear up when I see dogs racing around, playing tug, or wrestling with their friends, having the BEST time! 

 

Especially when they started with us as nervous or timid dogs.

 

Indeed, our little specialty is nervous/timid dogs so learning about and understanding dog behaviour is a crucial part of our initial and on-going training. 

 

As is building a relationship with the dogs you care for – our on-boarding procedures for bringing on a new person or dog starts with building trust with each other, building that bond so that if the dog is worried by something, over-whelmed or over-excited, you have that foundation to back up your efforts to console, comfort and calm the dog. 

Without this relationship, you can’t move forward with training – this is especially true for nervous/timid dogs.

 

So, we are looking for people who love animals, have a natural way with animals, are always looking for opportunities to learn and grow, and who find animal care innately rewarding. 

 

This is not an easy job by any means, if you don’t feel an innate satisfaction in caring for animals, this job is not for you.

 

However, we provide ongoing training and learning support, we cultivate an open, understanding, and humble culture to encourage learning from each other and outside sources, to encourage the admitting of and learning from mistakes, and to share in the success and joys of the job too!

 

We are also a new business, I (Alicia) am learning so much about running a business and managing a team along the way and am always open to suggestions. I would love to have staff outings a few times a year, help our team members progress towards their goals and dreams – in summary, I wish to help everyone I interact with, human, dog, cat or otherwise, live their BEST life!

Hours of work are flexible to suit you between 8am to 7pm Monday to Friday.

Employed position with holiday pay, pension contributions and all other standard benefits.

Pay at £11/hour, going up to £12/hour from 5th April 2024.

Automatic car, crates, leads, toys, towels, poo bags and treats provided. You just need yourself, a phone with a good camera and sufficient data allowance, warm clothes and decent walking shoes.
