How to Greet a Dog

Many people have no idea how scary they can be to a dog when they immediately begin smothering them when greeting them. Even if the dog is happy to be petted right away - it isn't polite and I like to ensure that I am always teaching a dog good manners. Good doggy manners would avoid and can treat many behavioural issues with other dogs and people such as jumping up, mild reactivity, over-friendliness and even recall and loose lead walking!

The general practice of remaining calm and polite in exciting situations such as meeting a new person or dog is a wonderful skill for every dog to have and something we actively promote here at Alicia's House of Paws.
